Almost decided to make it FREE

Hello everybody, some news here.
For those of you who are here for the first time, a little explanation:
I'm currently carrying a small "poll": should I make egaroo.com totally free to upload your banners or charge a small fee? So far I'm almost certain it will be the first choice (FREE) but it would take some time to change the "paid purchase" process to a "Free" one.
Please be patient, in just a short time period the system will allow all of you to have your free banners here. Stay tuned and don't miss the opportunity to be part of this experiment!
And thank you all people for the amazing response in letting me know what you think about our idea and if you would like to have it for free. Spread the word. Soon you and your friends and colleagues will find here an interesting new and alternative traffic venue.

Estoy llevando una pequeña "encuesta" con ustedes: debo hacer de egaroo un servicio gratuito o cobrar un pequeño valor por ofrecer la oportunidad de subir tu banner aquí?
Hasta ahora la opción de hacerlo gratis es la que más me gusta (y la que obviamente ha sido más votada y comentada), pero me va a llevar algún tiempo cambiar el sistema para que los banners puedan ser subidos sin pagar (al momento el sistema permite subir banners solamente pagando con tarjeta de crédito y paypal).
Sean pacientes y sigan visitando la página. Pronto podrán subir sus banners para promocionar sus sitios, negocios, blogs o projectos sin pagar nada.
Necesitamos su ayuda. Cuéntenle a sus amigos acerca de nuestra página y pasen la vos. Pronto podrán contar con una herramienta de marketing novedosa y original que ayudará a traer tráfico hacia sus páginas.
Explicaciones adicionales acerca de cómo funciona egaroo, en las entradas anteriores (sorry, por el momento sólo en inglés).

It talks about selling yourself cheaply in business, particularly design. I think you can see similarities with egaroo....

Bueno haces una pregunta, si publicar los banner de manera gratuita o pagada?. - Vi tu página egaroo, muy buena! -
Creo que ambas opciones son viables, es decir:
Hacerlo gratis es lo que más agrada: ayudar a los demás a publicitar su trabajo, pero por otro lado esto significa un costo para tí, aunque sea pequeño. (no?).
Creo que debes seguir algún sistema que te permita tanto ofrecer la subida gratis de banner, como ver la forma de mantener el sitio (algún día puede ser dificil, sucede que hay muchos sitios buenos, que ofrecen para toda la comunidad, pero que por falta de presupuesto después dejan de existir).
Pienso, que puedes ofrecer la subida gratis para aquellos que tienen proyectos (arte, fotos, experimental, etc) y cobrar un valor a quienes subir sus banner de forma comercial.
Creo que no es mala idea.
También puedes hacer alguna especie de concurso en el cual (por votación) se escoja el mejor banner del mes (así también impulsas la creatividad) y pones ese ganador en la página principal, con sus detalles, etc; como premio que salga más grande o destacado, por ejemplo.
De todas maneras, tu sitio es una buena promoción y es una buena idea!.
Espero que tengas mucho éxito en tu proyecto, así como te ayude lo que escribí. (estudié gestión por eso trato de ver los medios que son convenientes de ambos puntos: cultural / comercial).

charging a fee or not charging a fee - it comes down to how you are wanting to be perceived in the market place.
people just starting out or smaller business may not be able to participate because of the fee.
for me personally it is actually a lot of money, especially when i can do a large chuck of my own marketing on the internet for free at this stage.
although you have to make it sustainable for yourselves at the same time, you cannot give out this service for free and get nothing in return.
